Williamson joined Epsilon Group as technical specialist in 1994 after training with Operational Research for two years.
He was promoted to Sergeant in 1995 after undergoing further training for field deployment, and served as a member of Response Squad Epsilon from 1995 up until 1998, when he was injured in the line of duty.
After rehabilitation and further training, he was posted back to Epsilon Group as staff sergeant in command of technical support.
In 2004, after being recognised for service above and beyond the call of duty during the disastrous operation MERCURY BEGONIA (during which he led the primary containment crew), he was promoted to Sergeant Major and placed in command of all technical training at Epsilon base (a role which also serves as effective Company Sergeant Major for Epsilon Group).
Williamson led the technical support detachment during Operation PANDA STEEL in 2007, again sustaining injuries while extracting members of his team under heavy fire.
